Glenna R (Benton) Oksanen

Glenna R. (Benton) Oksanen of Halifax , formerly of Hanson, died on May 29, 2015 at the South Shore Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Rockland.  She was 94 and would have celebrated her 95th birthday on June 22, 2015.  Beloved wife of the late Solon A. Oksanen for 52 yrs.  Mother of the late David W. Oksanen.  Sister of the late Mary Gasque.  Loving grandmother of Scott Oksanen of Hawaii and Lori-Ann Stanton of Whitman.  Also survived by three great grandchildren:  Alex and Alana Oksanen and Alexis Stanton, all of Whitman, a great-great granddaughter, Lina Mae Louise Pacheco.  Dear friend of Rosemary Sherman and Gladys Hammond. Born in Hanson, Glenna graduated from Whitman High School.  She worked at Oceanspray for many years in the electronics department as an assembler.  She lived in Halifax for the past 35 yrs. and prior to that she lived in Hanson for twenty years.  She was a very active parishioner of the First Parish Baptist Church in Hanson.  She volunteered for 10 yrs with Meals on Wheels and the Elderly Services of Halifax.  She was a cub and boy scout leader and enjoyed reading.  Visiting Hours Monday, June 8th from 4-8 PM in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St., Hanson.  A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday in the funeral home at 11:00.  Interment to follow at Central Cemetery, Halifax.   Donations in memory of Glenna may be made to  First Baptist Church, 21 Main St., Hanson, MA 02341 or to the Halifax Council on Aging – Senior Center, 506 Plymouth St., Halifax, MA 02338
