Thomas Lapham Obituary

Thomas H. Lapham, 67, passed away Saturday, December 11, 2021 after a short illness. Tommy was born on February 23, 1954 in Chelsea, beloved son of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Ruxton) Lapham, and brother to the late Ellen Lapham and Joann (Lapham) Gaspar.

Tommy is survived by his two loving daughters, Kerri Lapham of Halifax and Shawna Lapham of Kingston; his siblings, Doren (Lapham) Reese and her husband Howard of CA, James Lapham and his wife Heather (Hedstrom) of Pembroke, MA, Barbara (Lapham) Smith and her fiancé Allen Rodney Ayotte of CT, Joyce (Lapham) Daniels and her fiancé David Acevich of Halifax; his 5 grandchildren - Kevin, Leah, Emma, Kaleigh and Jonathan; and 15 beloved nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind several cousins and close friends.

Growing up, Tommy loved to play baseball in the field behind his house with his brother Jim and the neighborhood kids who became lifelong friends. He also enjoyed trips to Fenway Park with his Grandfather as a child. Tommy graduated from Silver Lake Regional High School in 1972. After graduation, Tommy started his own landscaping business. Through hard work and dedication, he built a business from the ground up. He always took pride in his work, and did an excellent job.

Prior to his passing, Tommy was a dedicated New England sports fan, enjoying cheering on the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox. He loved the outdoors; especially family trips to the Herring Run, fishing on the open sea and helping others. But above all, Tommy loved spending time with his cherished family and friends. He would always ask his grandchildren, “What is the best thing in the world?” and the answer would always be, “To have a good heart”. Tommy had a heart of gold and he cared very passionately for others. Along with his kind spirit and generosity, Tommy had a great sense of humor, a quick wit and a joke to brighten up any day.

Tommy will be remembered for his genuine love for family and friends. His charisma, good nature and kind spirit will live on in all of us through our memories.

A memorial service will be held at First Church, 105 Center Street, Pembroke, MA 02359 at 10am on Saturday, December 18, 2021. The service will immediately be followed by the burial at Pembroke Center Cemetery, directly across from the Church.

There will be a Celebration of Life at the Hanson Athletic Association at 171 Reed Street, Hanson on Saturday, December 18th.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the charity of your own choosing in Tommy's name.

Psalm 23:

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in the green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,

He refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name's sake.

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint me with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
