Marjorie “Margie” Irene Baker Jr.
March 22, 1953 - February 1, 2024
Marjorie “Margie” Baker, 70, passed away after a short and arduous battle with lung cancer on February 1st.
Margie was born on March 22, 1953, to the late Robert W. Baker Sr. and Marjorie I. Baker (Martin) Sr. in Brockton, MA. Margie is survived by her children Angie Baker and her husband Michael of Seekonk and her son Benjamin Justiniano-Baker of Taunton. She was the best Nana to her grandchildren Emma and Mason. She was the beloved older sister to Ronald Baker of Florida, Scott Baker and Liza Rovatti of Plympton, Sue and Mel Meehan of Whitman, Kim Hallahan of Brockton, and Kellie Baker of Taunton. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her. She is predeceased by her son Antonio “Tony” Baker and her brothers Kenneth Baker, Robert Baker Jr., and Mark “Timothy” Baker.
Margie grew up in Halifax and attended the Whitman-Hanson High School. In her early years, Margie worked for many years as a dental laboratory technician in the Hanson area before switching career paths to be a CNA where she worked for the past 25 years at various nursing homes throughout the Bristol County area. She cared for her patients as if they were family and would many times buy them their favorite snacks or decorate their rooms for the various holidays to help brighten their spirits. When she wasn’t working you could find Margie “shopping till she dropped” with her granddaughter or laying on a beach perfecting her tan. You may even catch her “trying” to play basketball with her grandson and telling everyone she won, even though she didn’t make a basket.
Margie was the matriarch of the Baker family. She was always the strong rock that everyone needed and would be the person that everyone would turn to. She always said her greatest accomplishment in life were her children and her children loved her with all their hearts. She will be greatly missed by many but will be remembered for her “tell it like it is attitude” and her generosity to those who needed help the most. Whether it was a lending hand, words of advice, or her last dollar, she would make sure the ones around her were taken care of.
Visiting hours will be held between 10 – 11am on February 7,2024 at the Leighton Mackinnon Funeral Home located at 4 West Washington Street (corner of Route 58) in Hanson. Burial will take place at 11:30am at the Central Cemetery in Halifax. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
