Madelyn (Lyn) Sheehan (Mattson), 71 of Pembroke MA passed away peacefully at the McCarthy Care Center in Sandwich, on September 6, 2023 after a courageous year long battle with cancer. Born in February of 1952 in Quincy MA. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Madaline Mattson. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 37 years John T. Sheehan (BFD, Engine 16 Ret.) who died in September of 2011.
Madelyn is survived by her loving children, a daughter Kimberly Peters, her husband Brian and her two grandsons Brian Jr. and Timothy of Raynham. She is also survived by her son John Jr. (KFD), his wife Marybeth and her three granddaughters, Isla, Georgia and Johnna.
Lyn is also survived by her sister Debra McLaughlin of Braintree.
Lyn graduated from North Quincy High School in 1970. Upon graduation, she worked in the clerical field until she became a mother in 1974. It was then, that Lyn became a stay-at-home mom. Upon her return to the work world, Lyn worked at Quincy Hospital in the Billing Dept for several years. After moving to Pembroke in 1994, Lyn went to work at South Shore Vocational Technical School as a classroom aid for several years. At the time of her retirement, Lyn was working as a House Manager for Cardinal Cushing Industries.
An avid dog lover, Lyn worked with rescues fostering dogs. She always had a houseful.
Over the past few years, Lyn became involved with the Pembroke Counsel on Aging. She loved being a part of the community, getting involved and having fun with her friends.
Visiting hours will be at the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St Hanson (corner of 58) on Thursday September 14, 2023 from 4-7PM. The funeral will be on Friday, September 15, 2023 at 11am St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church, Holy Apostles Parish 1 Maquan St. Hanson MA 02341. Interment will be in Center Cemetery Pembroke.
