Janet M. (Driscoll) LaBrecque, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2020, after a long and brave battle against Alzheimer’s Disease.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 50 years, Alfred ‘Neil’ LaBrecque Jr., son Matthew of Hanson, daughter Joanna Furtado and her husband Matthew of East Bridgewater, son Stephen and his wife Jennifer of Franklin and her three adored grandchildren Ava and Benjamin LaBrecque and Abigail Furtado. She is also survived by her sister Maureen and David Taylor of Pembroke, her brothers Vincent and Marie Driscoll of Hanson, Thomas and Dianne Driscoll of Pembroke, James and Marilyn Driscoll of Mount Pleasant, SC, Stephen and Jacqueline Driscoll of Marshfield, her brother-in-law Francis LaBrecque of Boca Raton, FL, her sister-in-law Lori LaBrecque of Sandwich, 5 nieces, 16 nephews, 2 aunts and numerous cousins on the Hoey/Gallagher and Driscoll sides. Janet is predeceased by her beloved parents Vincent and Mary Driscoll and her loving in-laws Ida and Alfred ‘Neil’ LaBrecque.

Janet was born on April 12,1947. She grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Boston. She graduated from Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in 1965, and from Burdett College in 1966. Janet was a secretary at New England Telephone on Franklin St. in the Financial District for many years. In 1970, she married Neil, and they recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.  Janet and Neil settled in Hanson in 1977, where they raised their family. Janet started working for the Hanson Schools as a Teacher’s Aide in 1983, and was a fixture in Indian Head and Maquan classrooms until her retirement in 2012. She loved working with all children, but had a special place in her heart for the special needs students that she worked with in a one on one capacity.

Janet loved to cook family meals and bake delicious treats. You could always catch her enjoying a bowl of ice cream or some cookies. She was an avid reader, and her home was always decorated beautifully during the holidays. Janet and Neil loved to travel, visiting numerous European, Caribbean and North American destinations. One of her most treasured trips was to Ireland for her 60th birthday with her siblings and cousins. Janet will always be remembered for her beautiful smile and her ability to always make people happy.

Family and friends, with masks, are invited to pay their respects on Friday, October 30th, 2020, from 4pm-6pm at Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St. (corner of Rt. 58), Hanson, MA.
