While surrounded by her loved ones, Helen Doucette of Halifax, MA, age 73, passed away peacefully on March 31st, 2020. Born in Boston, MA on July 7,1946 as Helen Boultenhouse, her childhood was spent being raised by her foster mother Mrs. Rockwell in Hyde Park.
From the day she was born, she was always the definition of selfless. To say Helen was dedicated to her family and close friends would be an understatement. For the people she held close to her heart, her support and kindness was absolutely unwavering. With every challenge her or her loved ones faced, she was a pillar of strength and led the greatest example of what unconditional love truly is. No matter what she did, nature always found its way into Helen’s life. From owning an Inn in Vermont to train rides through the mountains, all the way down to walking the beaches of Massachusetts, she’s always had a place in her heart for the outdoors. Spending time with her family, especially her great granddaughter, whether it be a trip to the park, cooking for family gatherings, or merely watching tv together was always important to her. If she wasn’t with her family, she could be found enjoying bus trips with her friends, being a voice at the Council on Aging in Halifax or indulging in a new restaurant.
Helen is survived by her siblings, Johnny, Bob, Richie, Kenney, and Carol. She leaves behind her children Donna and Eddy, her grandchildren Chris and Brian, and her great granddaughter Cheyenne. Helen is thankfully reunited with her late siblings Raymond and Joe in heaven. Although we will forever miss her laughter, smile, and undying love, we take great comfort in the fact that no matter where she goes, she will always be surrounded by people who love her.
Private services will be held on Monday, April 6th, 2020 with her family and friends at Leighton-Mackinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58),Hanson. Helen will then be laid to rest in Halifax Central Cemetery shortly after.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date where people may pay their respects.
