Francis (Frank) Riordon Jr., 79, of Brockton, passed away January 9, 2022. He was the son of Francis and Doris (Baribeault) Riordon, and the brother of Kenneth (deceased) and Donald Riordon of Bourne. He had 2 daughters, Cathie and Karen of Solvang CA., and a granddaughter, Marissa whom he loved dearly.
He was a lifelong resident of Brockton. He was a graduate of Brockton High School. He attended Bentley College. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He loved playing guitar, singing and performing. He was lead guitar player, and singer, in the band the White Knight’s, popular in the Brockton area in the 70’s. He was also a member of the choir at Sacred Heart church for many years. In the 90’s he was a karaoke host at many local establishments. After he retired from hosting, he would still enjoy evenings out at Westgate Lounge singing his favorite songs. He was always so happy and proud when his daughter, Karen, would join him for a duet. And in his last year he sang with the nurses at Brush Hill Care Center.
In addition to his passion for singing, he also had a love of all New England sports teams, particularly the Red Sox. Baseball season is long and has many games, and Frank tried his best to watched them all. He was also a fan of the Brockton Rox’s and enjoyed many afternoons and evenings with his daughter’s, granddaughter, brothers and friends cheering them on.
He loved a good joke and to laugh. He had that New England appreciation for sarcasm, and a charismatic smile. He was a regular at Christo’s for many years. According to him they made the best Beefeater martinis.
He had several jobs throughout his life but his last was driving for Yellow Cab in Brockton. He loved talking with his fares and helping people get where they needed to go safely. He knew the streets of Brockton like the back of his hand.
He cared about animals and gave generously to the ASPCA. He also cared about the advancement of medical and dental science, and upon his death, made an anatomical donation to Harvard Medical School.
When you think of him, please sing a little something, anything that brings you a smile, and if you have a pet, give them an extra treat and a snuggle from Frank.
A memorial will be held at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
