Carol J. (Grattan) Mahoney

Carol J. Mahoney passed away at age 85 on Sunday November 14, 2021.  Carol was born, Carol Janice Grattan on April 9, 1936.   Daughter of the late Bob and Harriet Grattan, and brother Bobby Grattan and sister in-law Connie.

Carol is survived by the love of her life “my guy” Alan Bonneau, along with her daughter Kim Lowe, and husband Rick of Plymouth and her daughter Kristen Trischitta and husband Richie also of Plymouth.  Her stepchildren Danita Leonard of Hanson, and David Bonneau and his wife Marianne of Plymouth. In addition, the loving mother of the late Kenny Mahoney.  Carol was the devoted “Nana” to her grandchildren S. Josh Hornacek, Luke Hornacek, Amanda Trischitta, Brianna Trischitta, and step grandchildren, Jamie, Christie, and Jenna. The fun-loving aunt to Steven and Kathy Grattan of Plymouth, Denise and Craig Pasco of Wentworth NH, and Kerri and Wes Bethune of West Bridgewater and great aunt to Kyra, Johnny, Kiersten, Devon Erika, Nikki, and Mike.

Carol was a “Braintree girl” graduating from Braintree High School in 1954 with her close-knit lifetime friends “the club” and then went on to cosmetology school.  She owned her own hair salon (Carol’s Beauty Nook) in Hanson for 38 years and was loved by all.  She was an avid artist, winning the Scituate Arts honorable mention and filled her family’s homes with beautiful paintings.  Most importantly, Carol was a beautiful person both inside and out, soft spoken and kind always smiling and finding the good in all.  Carol and Al shared a wonderful life together, sharing humor, taking wonderful trips, and spending time with family and friends.  Our family saying is “every day’s a party” and Carol’s fabulous cooking brought everyone together.  Carol spent most of her free time, and eventually her retirement at the family’s cottage in Plymouth MA in a little Swedish community called Smaland.  She loved the beach, watching her grandchildren swim and going out in their pontoon boat. She loved listening to music, laughing, and having fun.  As a mother, she was best friends with her daughters providing them with unconditional love and support. The three of them spent an enormous amount of time together, along with their family and friends and sharing many glasses of wine together on the beach chatting and laughing. 

Visiting hours will be held at Leighton MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 W. Washington Street Hanson MA on November 22nd from 9:00 to 11:00 AM with a service at 11:00AM.  Burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery 784 High Street, Hanson MA.  In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimers  Assoc, 473 South St. West Raynham, Ma 02767  508-880-0055
