Obituary

Walter B. Allen of Pembroke passed away February 6, 2014 at the age of 71. Walter is survived by his nephew Jack Glynn and his wife Nancy (Osborne) Glynn of Hanson, his niece Ginny (Glynn) Murray of Bridgewater, his cousin Elizabeth (Wilmot) Holt and her husband Ashley of Georgia and his cousin James Wilmot of Massachusetts, his Great Niece Stephanie Glynn and Great Nephew Andrew (AJ) Glynn, both of Hanson, his Great Nephew Brian Murray and his wife Amy of California and his Great Great Niece and Nephew Jacquelyn and Brady Murray of California. He was predeceased by his sister Loretta (Allen) Glynn in 2007. He leaves behind his dog and best friend "Mr. Barry".

"Wally" was raised in Boston and later made his home in Pembroke for the last 45 years. He worked 23 years for the Boston Whaler company in Rockland making boats. Later he retired from Bridgewater State University as a custodian. A proud and private man, Wally took great pride in his love of his family and his love of dogs. He was often seen walking around Pembroke with Mr. Barry talking to friends and neighbors along the way. He was a kind, gentle man that would serve as a great role to his family in his work ethic and kindness. He served as a 2nd father to both Jack and Ginny throughout his life and made an indelible mark on their lives. He will be missed by those that had the privilege of knowing him.

Services will be private. Arrangements by Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home in Hanson, www.mackinnonfuneralhomes.com. In lieu of flowers any donations would be requested to The Pembroke Firefighters Relief Fund, Pembroke, Ma. Or to the MSPCA.
