Virginia R. Boyd 93, died very peacefully on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 while residing at Bay Path Nursing Home in Duxbury. She was born in Northampton, MA and lived in Abington, Hanson and Halifax, MA for 55 years. She is predeceased by her husband Theodore P. Boyd. She is survived by her children; Carolyn (Boyd) Freeman and husband Irving B., David W. Boyd, Patricia (Boyd) Sylvester, Michael R. Boyd and wife Elaine M., and the late Sherryl (Boyd) Tristaino, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her sister Jean Trifero and her husband the late John Trifero and her brother Eric G. Rorstrom and his wife Priscilla. She is predeceased by her parents Katharine Mayo Rorstrom and Hans Alfred Rorstrom, a sister Barbara Mautz and her husband William Mautz and a brother Richard Rorstrom.



Virginia graduated from Framingham H.S. in 1937 and attended Wheelock College. She loved being a governess for 2 years to 2 young boys who were evacuated from London to Milton, MA during WWII for the duration of the war. She enjoyed playing the violin, piano, sewing, gardening, camping and boating. In 1987, she and Ted enjoyed traveling around the United States in their large camper. She served on the Maids and Matrons Committee of the First Congregational Church of Hanson and as a Sunday School teacher. She and her husband Theodore lived in Halifax, MA for 18 years.



The Memorial Service will be at the First Congregational Church, 639 High St., Hanson, MA 02341 on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 1 PM. A graveside service and collation will follow in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations in the name of Virginia R. Boyd may be made to: Hope, Dementia and Alzheimers Services, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
