Theodore "Ted" Hammond of Halifax, formerly of Hanson passed away at Beth Israel Medical Center on August 14
th
. Mr. Hammond was 79 years old. Ted was the loving husband of Dorothy (Van Dale) Hammond of Halifax for 41 years. Beloved father of Tracie (Hammond) Decker, Theodore Hammond, Jr., Terri (Hammond) Martin, Rita (Shields) Zimmerman, Joseph Shields, Pamela (Shields) Corrigan and Robert Shields. He was a proud grandfather and great grandfather. Mr. Hammond was the brother of Laura Haas of Hanson, William Hammond of Kingston, the late Esther Hayward, Roy Hammond and Earle Hammond. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Born on September 11, 1932 in Hanson, Theodore was the son of the late Earle and Louise (Sayce) Hammond. He was a terrific baseball player and played for the Legion. Ted would go on to serve his country with honor during the Korean Conflict as a member of our nation's Air Force. Mr. Hammond was a member of the Whitman VFW and Hanson Athletic Association as well as later working at the Hanson A.A. as the Bowling Alley manager for many years. He also worked as a boat builder for Boston Whaler. Ted enjoyed gardening and painting.
