Obituary

Stephen F. Astore (September 14, 1957 – February 14, 2025)

Stephen "Stevie" F. Astore, 67, died peacefully in Plymouth after a short illness. A native of Brockton, he was a 1977 graduate of Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, where he played football and baseball. As a teenager, he trained and boxed at Petronelli Gym in Brockton. In 1973, mental illness derailed his athletic aspirations; courageously, he returned to high school and earned his degree, specializing in auto body repair. He never fully recovered from schizophrenia, which prevented him from working. He lived in various facilities and halfway houses in Brockton, Bridgewater, and Plymouth, where he touched the lives of the people who helped, cared for, and loved him. Like his mom, he had a fondness for Reese's peanut butter cups, with old-fashioned Coke being his drink of choice. He was a tenacious wiffleball player with his brothers and a gentle soul overall. He loved music especially Carole King, Cat Stevens, and the Rolling Stones. His parents, Julius A. and Helen L. (Wilder) Astore, predeceased him. He is survived by two sisters, Tina L. Bissett and Karen F. Sargent, and two brothers, Philip A. Astore and William J. Astore, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, Stevie's family requests that you donate to the charity of your choice in his memory.
