Shirley M. (Rackley) Lonergan of Hanson age 99 passed away on Tuesday July 26, 2022. She was the wife of the late Raymond S. Lonergan and the daughter of the late William H. and Marion (Garfield) Rackley. Born in Portsmouth, NH, she moved to Elizabeth NJ where she attended school and graduated from Brattin High School in 1939. She worked for six years at the Thomas and Betts Co. in Elizabeth during W.W. 2. Moving to Hanson she worked for 26 years at the Commonwealth Shoe and Leather Co. in Whitman in both the Factory and the office until it closed. Before retirement she worked in the kitchen and laundry of the Plymouth County Hospital in Hanson. She liked reading, gardening, boating and especially salt water swimming.

Shirley is survived by a son John A Lonergan of Daphne, AL., three grandchildren, Brian, Molly, and Melissa all of FL., also many cousins in Hanson, Texas, and Georgia.

Visiting hours will be in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson on Monday August 1st from  9:00AM -10 AM with services in the funeral home at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will follow at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
