Rosemary Roberts a long time resident of Hanson, formerly of Weymouth passed away on April 23, 2013 at the age of 74. She was born in Weymouth on September 23, 1938, the daughter of the late Walter C. and Margaret (Weeden) Roberts. Rosemary was a 1956 graduate of Weymouth High School and received her nursing diploma from New England Baptist Hospital in 1959. She graduated from Simmons College in 1964 and completed her masters at the University of Rhode Island in 1974. Ms. Roberts taught nursing for 15 years at the Quincy School of Nursing. She retired after 25 years as the Coordinator of Professional Services with Welch Health Care and Retirement Group.
Rosemary was an avid scrap booker and family historian traveling to England several times in search of ancestral places. She was an active member of the Collie Club of New England, holding a number of positions on the board of directors as well as serving as president. She was a member of the Shetland Sheepdog Club and the South Shore Kennel Club. In recent years she sang with the choir at the First Congregational Church in Hanson.
Ms. Roberts is survived by her siblings John Roberts and his wife Claire of Gaithersburg, Maryland, Donald Roberts of Weymouth, Kenneth Roberts and his wife Chris of Weymouth and Elizabeth Roberts of Mashpee. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Cremation will take place at Duxbury Crematory. Visitation will be held Saturday May 4th 2-3pm at the First Congregational Church in Hanson followed immediately by a Memorial Service and reception. Burial will take place at a later date in the Roberts family plot in Oakdale Cemetery, Sanford Maine. Arrangements are under the care of Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 W.
