Robert W. Deegan Sr. age 83 of Halifax, MA passed away on November 14, 2019. Bob was born on May 4th, 1936 in Somerville, MA. He leaves behind a beloved wife and best friend, Kim Campbell-Deegan. He was predeceased by his loving mother Mary Travares of Somerville and his brother Thomas Deegan Jr. from California. He is survived by his sister Geri Westgate and her husband Don Westgate of Florida. His children, Robert W. Deegan Jr. and fiancé Carole DeYesso, Shawn Deegan and fiancé Laura Chappell, Susan Deegan and her deceased husband Robert Johnson, Douglas Deegan and his wife Marylou Deegan, Kelley Deegan-Conroy and her deceased husband Michael Conroy, and Brian Deegan and his wife Jenn Deegan. He is survived by 9 grandchildren; Shanna, Robert III, CJ, Marissa, Zac, Mac, Lex, DeeDee and Cam, and 9 great-grandchildren. Also, by the mother of his children Barbara Esdra.
In the first 24 years of his life, he lived in Somerville Ma. Then he moved to Halifax to start his family. He worked as a printer for South Shore Lincoln Press until he established his own printing company, Liberty Tree Associates. He also worked many years as a bartender at the original BR's Restaurant in Halifax, MA. While in Halifax, he became actively involved in town politics initially as the youth and recreation commissioner. After that he became one of the founding fathers of the Halifax Athletic Association. He was a member of the school committee for many years and then finished his town political career as a Halifax selectman for 7 years. He was a committed youth sports coach for basketball and baseball, not only for his own children, but for many youth of Halifax. He was an avid New England sports fan, Patriots Dynasty all the way!
The Deegan's welcome family and friends to celebrate his life on Saturday November 23rd, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson. Please feel free to write an online condolence.
