Peter “Pete” S. Butman, 83, passed away on June 4, surrounded by the compassionate care of Hospice nurses and home health aides from Croi Health Care. 

Pete was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, to the late Ann and Stan Butman. He was the beloved husband of the late Anne Butman of Hanson, Massachusetts, and a devoted father to Laura Hottleman and her husband, Jim, of Braintree, and Jon Butman and his wife, Cara, of Pembroke. Pete attended Quincy schools and Quincy College before earning his bachelor’s degree from Boston University. 

Pete met Anne Leacock on a blind date, and their first date was at the Fowler House in Quincy. They were married on February 14, 1969, at her mother’s apartment in Andover, Massachusetts. Together they began their life in Quincy, where they welcomed their daughter, Laura, at Quincy Hospital. They later purchased their home in Hanson, where they lived for 55 years and raised their family, welcoming their son, Jon, in 1974.

 Pete was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time outdoors. He often traveled to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont with friends for hunting and fishing trips, and he especially cherished time at his cottage in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. 

Pete and Anne also shared a love of travel. Over the years, they traveled throughout the country, visited various islands, and spent time with family in Sweden and Finland. For many years, Pete enjoyed life as a snowbird at Sunseekers RV Campground in Fort Myers, Florida, where he appreciated the sunshine. He also had a lifelong love of cars and trucks, always enjoying a new vehicle or a classic car.
