Nick McKay, 46, of Rockland, Massachusetts, passed away on August 20, 2026, after a brief illness. Raised and educated in Whitman, Nick graduated from South Shore Vocational Technical School in Hanover in 1998.

He was active in scouting with Boy Scout Troop 59 in Whitman, enjoying camp and all the troop activities. His very favorite thing was boating and fishing with his Dad, most especially summering nineteen years on Squam Lake in New Hampshire, exploring all the islands, reading his maps, trying his hand at driving his Dad’s boat, water skiing and water tubing.

Nick loved walking and bicycling in nature. He was a sports enthusiast for all his Boston teams and most especially the Boston Bruins.

Predeceased by his father Brian McKay of Whitman, paternal grandparents Doris and David McKay of Weymouth, maternal grandparents Trudi and William Lynskey of Weymouth.

Survived by his mother Patricia McKay of Whitman, sister Suzanne McKay of Abington, and many dear aunts, uncles and cousins, Nick had an incredibly special bond with his Great Aunt Beatrice Muise of Dorchester, and his Uncle Joe Lynskey of Whitman. These two special bonds meant the world to him.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, 11:00 a.m. at St. James Cemetery, Harvard Street in Whitman, MA, cared for by Leighton - MacKinnon Funeral Home, Hanson, MA.
