IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Martha J
Tisdale
November 26, 1928 – August 29, 2023
Martha J. Porter (Jeppson) Tisdale, 94, of Halifax, MA passed away peacefully, at All American Assisted Living in Hanson, MA, on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on November 26, 1928, in Brockton, MA, she was daughter of the late Oscar and Lydia Jeppson. She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Tisdale, her sister Laverne, and her brothers Russell and Robert.
Martha is survived by her daughter Sandra (Porter) Davis and son-in-law Evan Davis of Rockville, MD; her son Gary Porter and daughter-in-law Deana Porter of East Bridgewater, MA, (through her first marriage to E. Lee Porter); her stepdaughters Pamela (Tisdale) Haddad and Debra D. Riley; her seven grandchildren; her fourteen great-grandchildren; her brother Edmund Jeppson; and her sister-in-law, Virginia Jeppson.
Martha graduated from Brockton High School in 1946. She graduated from Massachusetts Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1949 as a registered nurse. She retired from Brockton Hospital in October 1991 after thirty years of service in the labor and delivery department. In retirement, she discovered her love of painting through the Halifax Senior Center and had her work exhibited at the Executive Office of Elder Affairs' Office headquarters in Boston, MA. It was through the Senior Center where she developed friendships, joined the Red Hats, traveled to the casinos, played cards, and enjoyed retirement.
Martha met the love of her life, Everett Tisdale, in 1975, and they enjoyed traveling the world with fellow members of the Wampatuck Masonic Lodge. They settled into the Halifax area and enjoyed spending their days on the water outside of their home on West Monponsett Pond.
Martha will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her tenacity, her generosity, her love of sparkly things, all things purple, hair permanents, sweets and above all else her unwavering sense of humor.
Her memorial service will be held at Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, located at 4 West Washington St Hanson on September 9, 2023, from 2pm-5pm.
