Obituary

Marion Selma (Williamson) Hammond of Bradenton, Florida went to be with her Lord and Savior on October 6, 2013.

She was born on April 18, 1940 to the late Joseph and Eleanor Williamson in Brockton, MA. She graduated from Abington High School in 1958. Marion married Gilbert W. Hammond, Jr. in 1960, and they spent 52 years together before Gilbert passed in 2012.

Marion worked for Walmart for 19 years until she retired in 2007. She was passionate about gardening, writing, and crafting. Her interests took many forms, from the Blue Gingham Craft Shoppe she owned with Gilbert to making and designing her own greeting cards to raising and releasing more than 300 butterflies and to authoring many short stories for local newspapers, Marion's pursuit of creativity was a lifelong commitment.

Marion attended West Bradenton Baptist Church and volunteered as the librarian for the Swan Lake Village Park Library where she lived. During her time in Hanson, MA, Marion was the treasurer of the Hanson Ladies Fire Auxiliary and the Nathaniel Thomas Mill Committee.

She was predeceased by her husband Gilbert W. Hammond, brother Robert L. Williamson, and son-in-law Timothy Nellis.

Marion is survived by her four daughters Lynn M. Burns and her husband John of Loudonville, NY; Michelle M. Enzinger and her husband Michael of Indianapolis, IN; Andrea J. Hammond and her partner Linda Phillips of Bradenton, FL; and Tiffany J. Nellis of Bradenton, FL. She is also survived by her sister Sue E. Norton and her husband Hal of Abington, MA and brother-in-law Samuel G. Hammond and wife Gladys of Hanson, MA. Marion is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Christopher (Nichole) S. Douglas, Brittany (Andy) A. Stewart, Caitlin S. Douglas, Kayleigh R. Nellis, and Timothy G. Nellis, and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours at Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington Street (at Rte 58), Hanson, MA on Thursday, October 10 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Services will be held Friday, October 11 at 10:00 AM, in the funeral home followed by internment at Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
