Karen A. Powers Dalton, born October 8, 1968, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on May 28, 2015, after a heroic battle with cancer. The daughter of the late Patricia M. and Ronald E. Powers of Hanson, she graduated from Whitman-Hanson High School, Class of 1986. Karen spent most of her life in Hanson. She grew up vacationing on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire, where she fell in love with the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, hiking, the beach or just sitting around a fire with family and friends. Karen wanted her children to know she will be watching over them until they meet again. That she is now their guardian angel and she will be with them always. Karen is survived by her children, Natasha and David Dalton Jr. of Rochester and Rosalee Aveni of Hanson; her fiance, James Aveni of Hanson; her sisters, Kim Powers of Mashpee, Cheryl Maly of Abington, Linda Hotchkiss of Londonderry, N.H.; and her brother, Ronald Powers of Sharon. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, especially her lifelong friend, Janice Lynch of Hanson. Services will be held at the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington Street, in Hanson, Sunday, May 31. Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 6-8. A funeral Mass will be held Monday, June 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Church in Hanson.
