Joyce Thurley (Clark) Hirtle of Halifax died peacefully in the early morning hours of Thursday January 1, 2026 at home surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. She was born on June 15, 1939 to the late George Albert Zephaniah Clark and Marjorie Elizabeth (Joyce) Clark of Rockland. She was the wife of the late George Alan Hirtle and mother of the late David Norman Hirtle. She is survived by her sons Mark Alan Hirtle and Scott Albert Hirtle, and daughters Carol Louise (Hirtle) Brown and Lisa Marie Hirtle, all of Halifax. As well as her grandsons Michael Alan Brown of Kingston and Benjamin George Brown of Halifax.
Joyce worked at Sevigny's Candy as a young woman, once married she devoted herself to caring for her growing family. She also worked at New England Art Publishing in Abington until she retired. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandsons. And, had a love of shopping and finding the best bargains.
Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Foundation, Pancreatic Cancer research.
