Obituary
John J. Whitworth 66, of Halifax passed away at his home on Friday July 6th 2012 from Pulmonary Fibrosis. Jack as he was known by his family and friends, was the devoted husband of Marie L. (Ekman) Whitworth and the son of the late Frederic and Mary (Hannan) Whitworth.
Born, raised, and educated in Brockton he had been a resident of Halifax for the last 34 years. Jack was a retired custodian for the Brockton School Department. He took great pride in restoring his classic Pinto into a Hot Rod, Fyrbol which he entered into many car shows over the years. He was an avid Nascar/Jeff Gordon fan and a member of the Vega Club of Brockton.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter Deborah Groulik and her husband John of Fort Wayne, Indiana, his son John J. Whitworth Jr. of Stuart, Florida, his daughter Kristin Brand and her husband Kevin of Buzzards Bay, his son Wayne Cole and his wife Sheila of Hanson. He was the loving grandfather of Daniel Joseph Cash Jr., Justin Eldon Cole, and Kadin Owen Brand. He leaves one sister Betty Jane Miller and her husband Alan of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law to the late Carol Nash and Eldon Ekman.
Visiting hours will be held in the Lieghton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson on Monday July 9th 4-7 PM. Services will be held in the Funeral Home Tuesday July 10th at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
