Janinia Ferguson was born a century and a year ago in Cambridge Massachusetts to Polish immigrants, Albert and Mary Chrusciel.  Taught to love and respect all living things, she went on to demonstrate her honest and empathic nature in all her endeavors.  She loved to create and passed her skills in knitting, crocheting, quilting, and sewing onto her daughters and grandchildren.

During the second World War, she proudly supported her country by working for the United States Navy making ammunition while her fiancé, Edward L. Ferguson fought and became a prisoner of war in Germany.  After his return and their marriage in 1945, Janinia was a loyal employee of Ocean Spray Cranberry Company.  She began by sorting cranberries in the warehouse, but upon discovering that she could type, the company asked her to fill in an empty spot in the secretarial pool.  Thus began her 30-year career as a secretary.  Completing night courses to improve her skills led to her advancement to Executive Secretary.

Janinia and her husband enjoyed many happy years of retirement together, taking road trips throughout New England, dancing and going to flea markets.  They also enjoyed their expanding family's penchant for celebrating any and all occasions with a party - another practice learned from her.  And her annual Girls' Columbus Day Weekend in New Hampshire with her daughter and granddaughters was an event that was loved for many years and will continue to evolve as a family tradition.

Janinia is predeceased by her husband, Edward and her daughter, Sandy.  She leaves behind her daughter and son-in law, Patti and Michael, with whom she lived in Plymouth.   She also leaves five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and her long-time best friend, Inkie, who will all miss her love immensely.

A visiting hour will be held on Saturday, April 15 at 10:00am at St. Joseph the Worker church in Hanson, MA, followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 am.  Her ashes will then be interred at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bryantville.
