Obituary

Helen Mae Edith Perry Morrison Whittaker Lapthorn, age 85, passed away after a sudden illness April 10th 2014 at 8:30 pm peacefully in Maine at home surrounded by her loving family and all the things she loved. She was born on February 14, 1929 of Brockton, Massachusetts.

She worked at a Candy Factory, Shoe Factory, and Leather Factory in Brockton, MA. Along with working seasonal at Ocean Spray Factory in Middleboro, MA. She was a CNA for Brockton Hospital and then worked at Island Terrace Nursing Home in Lakeville, MA and a homemaker to her 7 children.

She loved to dance, yodel, and sing. Her favorite songs were "Over the Rainbow" (Judy Garland), When you Wish upon a Star" (Pinocchio), "Lady" (Kenny Rogers), "You light up my Life" (Debby Boone), "Snowbird" (Anne Murray), and the "The Way We Were" by her favorite singer Barbara Streisand. She loved to travel. Loved seafood and KFC. She loved the ocean where she found peace. Her favorite flowers were lilies and yellow roses. Her hobbies included drawing, painting, writing poems, and enjoying the great outdoors. She was a very intelligent woman, very giving, with a big heart. She adored her family so much! Great story teller, she loved to tell the history of her relatives. You could never catch her without her beautiful smile. She will be sorely missed by all who got to enjoy her beautiful soul.

She was the daughter of the late James Albert Lapthorn Sr. & Lillian Flora Scott Lapthorn. Sister to Viola Jean Willis & brother in law Roy Edward Willis Sr. (deceased), Lillian Alberta Lapthorn aka "Berta" (deceased) & James Albert Lapthorn Jr. aka "Baby Bunting" (deceased). Mother to Charles M. Perry Jr., Lydia J. Perry of Taunton, Sheryl L. Medieros & son in law Steve Medieros of Fall River, Michael J. Perry & daughter in law Lisa Perry of Middleboro, Vickie L Frazier (deceased) & son in law Daniel Frazier (deceased), Caroll T. Morrison III & daughter in law Heather Morrison of Wisconsin, and Leslie I. Harvey & son in law Anthony Harvey of Maine. Aunt to Roy E. Willis Jr., Karen A. Willis & Steven A. Willis. Grandmother to 20 grandchildren & 15 great grandchildren. She was well taken care of with lots of love by her caregiver & daughter Leslie Harvey.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, April 18th from 6-9 pm in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (at rte 58) Hanson, with a service to be celebrated at 7 pm in the funeral home. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, April 23rd at 11 am in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bryantville.
