Obituary

George Donald Smith of Halifax died peacefully at the Good Samaritan medical Center on June 10th at the age of 83. George is survived by his wife Eva June Smith (Pickering) of Halifax. He was the son of the late Thomas F. & Gertrude (Kingsman) Smith. He was the youngest of a family of nine. He is survived by a brother Rev. Robert C. Smith of Knoxville, IA and a sister Helen Leneten of Newton.

George and June had three sons, Norman D. Smith and his wife Frann of NC, William K. Smith of CT, and Thomas F. Smith and his wife Gayle of Brockton.

George and June enjoyed 62 years of married life. He enjoyed serving the Lord and loved his grandchildren Stephanie and Brian of TN; Vanessa of ME, and Cassandra and Kevin of Brockton. They also had two great grandchildren in ME.

George served at the Brockton VA Hospital as an EKG Technician for 27 years. He joined the US Navy in 1952 and served 4 years as a corpsman and then went on to serve in the active reserve for a total of 37 years.

George and June lived in Halifax for 18 years.

A committal ceremony at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne will be scheduled at a later date.
