Obituary

Doris C "Dot" Mathew's, 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on February 7, 2026, at her home in Hanson.

She was the daughter of the late, Vernon C. and Marian J Mathews. She was raised in West Hanover, graduated from Sylvester High School, class of 1951.

She was mother of the late Steven D Orcutt, and Dean S Orcutt. She was a sister to the late Marian E Wyman of Hanson, the late Shirley M Lawhorne of Kingston, also sister to the late Charles V Mathews who passed away in 1959. "Now Charley and I are together again-he was my buddy!"Also survived by many nieces and nephews and MANY, MANY great and dear friends and likely some enemies who don't count anyway. God bless 'em."

Member of the Congregational Church in Hanover member of the Hanson Grange #209, was the treasurer for years and served as other officers. Member of the Hanson American Legion Auxiliary, where she served different offices-last was President for 5 years, also served as Chaplain. She was a 50 year member of the Wampatuck Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Dot also served on a few town committees, Board of Appeals, Police Station Renovations Committee, Triad-S.A.L.T. Committee, then on to the Police Building Committee for the new station on Main Street, and on the Fern Hill Cemetary Association for several years.

"I enjoyed traveling whenever and wherever- to visit my niece and family in Milan, Frankfort, and Cairo. I also traveled to Kauai, Hawaii, Bermuda, Freeport, Bahamas, the beautiful western part of our country, and I visited Florida." She enjoyed working with the Navy Seabees MCB-9 Battalion, and traveled to many reunions and made some real true Seabee friends.

"I'll be watching down on all you people. Fare thee well my friends…….and non friends"

A graveside service will take place at Hanover Cemetery at a date to be announced.
