Daniel "Dan" Michael Pitts, 37, of South Easton, MA, left this world far too soon on August 24, 2026. Born on January 6, 1989, Dan grew up in Hanson, MA, and was a graduate of Whitman-Hanson Regional High School. A man of many talents, Dan worked in a variety of roles—including as a mechanic, waiter, and painter—where he dedicated his sweat and tears. Through his hard work, he became a sole proprietor and the proud owner of Phoenix Painting Plus LLC.

To those who knew him best, Dan was defined by his profound love of Jeeps and his incredible artistic abilities. As a lifelong Jeep enthusiast, he spent countless hours on restorations and put his vehicles to the test through his love of off-roading in the woods and by the water. Dan was a frequent participant in local Jeep Jamborees and community events. His creativity was undeniable from a young age, earning him a “Most Artistic” award back in middle school. He loved to draw, paint, and write music. Dan often performed his original songs under the stage name of CAPRICIOUS for all that would listen. He was passionate about sharing his heart and unique perspective with the world through his art and melodies.

Dan also had a deep love for animals, growing up with hamsters and several family dogs. However, no pet filled his heart and soul quite like his very own Mr. Biggie Small, or “Biggies.” Dan’s gentle, caring nature made his relationship with his adopted Frenchie mix truly one of a kind.

Above all else, Dan was generous with his time and love to all he met. Sharing his talents and helping others were his chosen ways to connect, support, and bring light to those around him.

Dan is the beloved son of Michael J. Pitts and stepmother Holly J. Dorr of Foxborough, MA; and the cherished stepbrother of Caitlin C. Dorr (Carter) of Salt Lake City, UT, and Carolyn M. Dorr of Malden, MA. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Judy Jakubajtys-Pitts, and his dear sister, Lauren E. Pitts, both of Weymouth, MA, with whom he is now peacefully reunited. Dan also leaves behind a large extended family including a dear grandmother, aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as a vast number of dear friends who will all miss his presence and his infectious smile.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 20th at Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home at 4 W. Washington St, (corner of rte 58) Hanson, MA. Visiting hours will begin at 1:00 PM, followed immediately by a memorial service and celebration of life beginning at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to your favorite charity in Dan's memory.
