IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charlotte W.
(Tibbetts) Vayo
September 3, 1933 – January 10, 2017
Charlotte W. Vayo (Tibbetts) passed away peacefully on January 10th with her family by her side. She leaves behind five children; Gary Vayo, Sharon Vayo, Brian Vayo, Kelly Pasca and Rick Vayo. She was the mother-in-law to Kimberly Vayo, Louise Vayo, Bobby Pasca, Linda Vayo and Lisa Haslett. She had seven grandchildren: Jason Vayo, Jamie LaCivita, Nicole Betters, Lindsay Boedecker, Megan Vayo, Erica Pasca and Ryan Vayo. She also had four (soon to be five) great grandchildren: Cayden Boedecker, Stella Boedecker, Ethan Betters and Zoey Vayo. Charlotte also had four brother/sister-in-laws: Rita Stansfield, Elaine Kenney, Donald Vayo, Estelle Vayo and many nieces and nephews.
Charlotte, the only daughter of Frank and Helen Tibbetts, was born in Chelmsford on September 3, 1933. She married the late Paul Vayo in 1955. Charlotte and Paul lived in Chelmsford and the surrounding towns until 1967 when they moved to Hanson, MA. While raising her five children, Charlotte was active in the schools as well as in community improvement projects. She was responsible for the restoration of the historic Thomas Mill in Hanson and the long running Indian Summer Gallery, a local craft fair, and also served on the Bicentennial Committee and the Finance Committee in town. Later in life, Charlotte took on an instrumental role in the family business, pursued numerous charitable causes and spent countless hours with her adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlotte was a kind and generous person always putting her family and friends before her own needs. The family will always remember her as accepting, honest and strong. She brought joy into our lives and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Prior to passing, Charlotte requested in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in her name to Farm Sanctuary, P.O. Box 150 Watkins Glen, NY 14891. You may also donate online.
