Carl R. Backlund of Halifax passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2017 at the age of 84. The beloved husband of Marion M. (Medeiros) Backlund. Loving father of Anne Hall of Michigan, Thomas Backlund of FL,  Mark Backlund of Whitman, Jeanne Graves of FL,  the late Linda Parker, and the late James Backlund.  Brother of Nancy Hayes of Carver, Janice Spano of Weymouth,  and the late Barbara Giroux.  Also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visiting hours in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson Saturday 2-4 PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.  Burial will be at the Mass National Cemetery, Bourne, on Monday February 6th at 11:15 AM.

Carl was a  Korean and Vietnam Veteran U.S. Navy.  Member of the American Legion Post 226, Hanson  and the V.F.W. Post in Whitman.  In lieu of flowers, the Family would like  donations in Carl's memory made to New England Veteran's Shelter for Disabled American Veterans, 17 Court St. Boston, MA 02108.

The family would like to invite everyone back right after visiting hours on Saturday to the American Legion Post, 92 Robinson St. Hanson.
