IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
Finch
June 14, 2024
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved wife and mother, Barbara Jean "Bea" (MacPherson) Finch of Pembroke, MA. She was a caring and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend and will be deeply missed by all who loved her. She died peacefully on June 14, 2024 surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 28, 1957, she grew up, the first of seven children, in the Fields Corner neighborhood of Dorchester. She graduated from Girls' Latin School in Boston and attended Boston State College and Northeastern University. She worked for Star Market and New England Life. Growing up and working in Boston was something she loved and looked back on fondly. She married her husband of 44 years, Paul Finch, on May 3, 1980 and they raised their three children, Steven, Allison, and Sarah in Hanson, MA. She relished her role as a wife and mother. Her home was always a welcoming place for friends and family. When she wasn't taking care of her family, you would almost always find her in her garden. In Hanson, she was active in community service, volunteering in her children's schools and as a member of the First Congregational Church of Hanson, supporting church events like the church's 250th Anniversary celebration and multiple charitable efforts. Close to her heart was the work she did on behalf of the Mainspring Women's Shelter in Bridgewater. She was a beloved friend of many in Hanson and was especially loved by her children's friends. More recently she and Paul lived in Pembroke and in the last several years enjoyed going on day trips to new places, heading into her beloved Boston, taking walks near the ocean especially at the Cape Cod Canal and Castle Island and traveling to enjoy warmer weather. Also, in her most recent years, Barbara became the ultimate grandmother - full of love, joyful surprises, and endless hugs. Barbara is survived by her loving husband, Paul, her children Steven (Liz) Finch of Medelinn, Colombia, Allison (Sean) Harrison of Rockland, and Sarah (Eric) Kinch of Hanson, her mother, Jennie MacPherson of Plymouth, her sister and niece, Jen and Charlotte MacPherson of Westwood, her brother Richard (Laurie Donlan) MacPherson of Plymouth, sister-in-law, Heather Johnson of North Attleboro, brother-in-law, Gary (Wendy) Finch of Northfield, Vermont as well as many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by beautiful grandchildren who brightened each day, especially in her last months: Sophia and Elise Finch, Avery and Lily Harrison, and Evelyn and Nathaniel Kinch. She is also survived by her loving and supportive best friend of 36 years, Bonnie Devine. Barbara is predeceased by her father, David MacPherson of Plymouth and by her brother, David MacPherson of North Attleboro. A celebration of life service will be held at the First Congregational Church of Hanover on June 23 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Rainbow Camp, a girls' summer camp in Hanson, Massachusetts. Barbara will be deeply missed and forever loved and remembered
