Barbara A. Fenter (Elson), 89, of Pembroke, MA, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2026, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Barbara was born in Boston, MA to John and Ann Elson. She enjoyed spending time with babies, reading, gardening, dining out, and having a glass of dry Reisling. Barbara rejoiced in the ridiculous. She loved to laugh and could make you laugh with just a look. Barbara retained her ability to laugh into her final days. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. 

Barbara was married to John H. Fenter II for nearly 65 years until his death in 2021. Barbara is survived by John H. Fenter III and his wife Leslie of Virginia Beach, VA, James Fenter and his husband Allan Hunter of New Berlin, NY, Paul Fenter and his wife Belinda of Chuckey, TN, Michael Fenter and his husband Kenneth Barr of Bangalore, India, Laura Fenter of Pembroke, MA, Joyce Duke and her husband Aaron Duke of Plympton, MA, and Jessica Murphy and her husband Tim of Marshfield, MA; her sixteen grandchildren Jake, Teddy, Mark, Anthony, Audg, Paul (PJ), Nicholas, Rachel, Conner, Joe, Kyle, Mitchell, Nathan, Alex, Declan, and Tadgh; four great-grandchildren Stacie, Sean, Luca, and Jakob; her sisters Ann Bittrolff, Jeanne Comerford, Linda Wood and her brother John Elson; and her lifelong friend Marie Magee. 

A burial of her ashes will be held on Friday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Bryantville, MA. Family and friends are welcome to attend to honor and celebrate Barbara’s life.
