Arthur Turner Jr. of Hanson passed away on December 22, 2011 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. He was 79 years old. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Ann (DeYoung) Turner. He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary Catherine (Gillis) Turner, and the loving father of Lana M. Ruel of Marshfield, Arthur Turner, III. of Hanson, Barbara Ann Chambers of Hanson, Eric J. Turner of Middleboro, and Cheryl L. Smith of Pembroke. He was the brother of Margaret E. Bonney of Hanson and the late Mary I. Walz. He was the cherished grandfather of Corey and Brandon Ruel of Marshfield, Matthew and Alison Chambers of Hanson, Christopher and Amanda Smith of Pembroke, and Emily Barbara Turner of Middleboro. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Arthur was born in Quincy and was a graduate of Whitman High School Class of 1951. He attended Wentworth Institute. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a Licensed Pipefitter for Local 51 and was a refrigerator mechanic for 15 years. He owned and operated A&A Refrigeration for many years. He has lived in Hanson since 1957.
Arthur enjoyed motor homing, winters in Florida, early morning breakfast at McDonalds in Hanson with his gang, and dining out daily with his best buddy Uncle David. He loved spending time with his family. Over the years he has owned 40 cars and 7 motor homes.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 28, from 4-8 pm in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St. (at Rte 58) Hanson. A Funeral Service will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 am in the First Baptist Church of Hanson 214 Main St., Hanson. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
