Kevin F. McDonough

On February 23, 2019, Kevin F. McDonough of Whitman formerly of Quincy, passed away surrounded by his devoted family.  Kevin was born on February 14, 1947.  He was the loving husband of Joan (Ronayne) McDonough.  They were married in Milton, MA, 48 years ago.
Kevin is the beloved father of James F. McDonough II and his wife Tara (Dertzo) McDonough of Hanson, MA, Matthew W. McDonough and his wife Rebecca (Osborne) McDonough of Hanover, MA and Sarah K. DeSantes and her husband Brian of Hanson, MA. Kevin left behind eight adoring grandsons, Owen, Tyler, Luke, Drew, Benjamin, Ashton, Teddy and Devin.
Kevin retired from Verizon as a manager in Building Operations in 2002.  He was known for his amazing mechanical ability as well as financial expertise and notorious for his sense of humor!  He loved playing Black Jack and simple card games like 13.

Kevin enjoyed fishing and boating on the Sarah Kate out of Taylor Marine, Marshfield and Squantum Yacht Club.

Kevin persevered after losing his right eye at 18 in an accident.  He developed uveitis in his left eye 14 years ago and his sight was saved by the amazing Dr. Stephen Foster of MERCI.

Kevin was predeceased by his parents James F. And Elizabeth (Smith) of Quincy.  He was born in Boston, MA.

Kevin is also survived by his brother Paul and his wife Christine (Chisholm) McDonough of Weymouth, his sister Nancy and her husband Greg Metto of Franklin, his brother Brian of Quincy and his brother James and his wife Yoshiko of Okinawa.
He is also leaves behind his sister in law Barbara (Ronayne) Shea of Quincy and her husband Jimmy and his brother in law William F. Ronayne and wife Barbara (Grealish) of West Roxbury, MA.
Kevin loved his wonderful extended family and friends, especially Phil and Charlene Rollins of Whitman and their family.
If people wish, the family requests no flowers, but a act of kindness for someone.  Kevin’s favorite charity was MERSI, Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution, 1440 Main Street, Suite 201, Waltham, MA 02451.

 Visiting hours  will be held in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St.
