Dennis Deneen Obituary

Dennis W. Deneen, of Hanson and formerly of Hanover, passed away on May 13th 2019 at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness, surrounded by loved ones. Dennis was the beloved husband of Debra Deneen for 32 wonderful years; proud father of Sara Deneen, Amy Broderick, Joseph Broderick and his grandson Richard McCoy of Hanson. Son of Dennis M. Deneen and Clare Deneen(late), his sister Donna (Deneen) Freitas, her late husband Richard Freitas, their children Katherine and Richard of Pembroke, his brother Kevin and wife Debra Deneen of Plymouth and their children Nicole & Kyle Deneen. Additionally, survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, many life long friends including his best friend Brian Taylor of Florida and close family friend Kenneth Kouns of Pembroke. Den also loved his dog, Dixie, who he lovingly referred to as “the best girl in the house, because she didn’t talk.”

Dennis graduated from South Shore Vo-Tech in 1979, from the welding program and became a welder/diesel mechanic. He started his career at the MBTA shortly there after. Dennis eventually retired from the MBTA in 2014, after 32+ years of service. In those years, he made many friends that turned into family.

Den loved the great outdoors. He enjoyed walking the bogs with his dog, hunting, fishing and four wheeling were among his favorite activities. Dennis was the type of person to go above and beyond for anyone, no questions asked, his heart was always in the right place. He loved to go across the street to his friend’s house, sit by the fire and enjoy a good conversation with a beer in his hand. He delighted in traveling with his daughters, with nothing but the open road and good conversation. In recent years, he traveled to Washington State with his oldest daughter Amy, then down the east coast to North Carolina with his youngest daughter, Sara.

Dennis will be greatly missed by family and many friends. A celebration of life is planned for all to attend on Saturday June 1st 2019 from 6pm-10pm at the Venus 3 at 252 Main St. Hanson, MA.

Arrangements by Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home, 4 West Washington St., Hanson, MA.
