David Bearce was my neighbor. I didn't know him well. I didn't know what TV shows he watched, I didn't know what foods he liked and I didn't know much about his life before he became a neighbor. But I did know the important things....he was a Patriot and a hero, he was a nice man and he cared about other people. His patriotism was borne out in the Republic of South Vietnam and in the scars and health issues he lived with when he came home. I wouldn't have known because he seemed like the sort of man not to make a big fuss out of it but instead to quietly bare it. He was a nice man because he gave to others and considered others. He bothered to take the time to find a car for a young woman who had been through tough times and was just learning that life could be filled with good, nice people instead of self serving people. He cared about others.....every snow storm, many times when neighbors needed a hand he just seemed to be there helping out. I didn't know much about David Bearce except as my neighbor, but he was a good man, a respected man, a caring man and he was a Vietnam Veteran and he was loved by Dot. Rest in Peace David, you have earned all the days of peace and happiness and joy that heaven holds for you. You will be missed.
