Robert S. Schiffer

Robert S.Schiffer of Hanover Ma., died on August 29, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family. Bob was born in 1938 in Boston, Ma. to his parents the late Sigwald and Bertha Schiffer. He was the oldest of two brothers and four sisters.

Bob was a loving and devoted husband to his late wife Janet C. Schiffer (Hall) for 53 years. Bob and his wife Janet raised their three daughters in Marshfield for nine years and then moved to Hanover in 1971, where they lived throughout their lives. Bob had an exemplary work ethic and began his career at Gertman’s Meat Packing Co. in Boston and then went on to Dole and Bailey in Woburn, where he worked until his retirement in 2007.

Bob was an avid golfer for 30 years, He was a member of Meadowbrook Country Club, where he made many lifelong friends. Most importantly, Bob adored his wife and three daughters and was a very proud Papa and Grandpapa to 10 wonderful grandchildren and 1 beautiful great grandson.

Robert is survived by his daughters and sons in law Pamela and Paul Jordan of Pembroke MA, Susan and Paul DiGiovanni of Warwick RI,and Elizabeth and Robert LeBeau of Hanson MA. His 10 grandchildren Krystal DiGiovanni, Heather Jordan, Katelyn DiGiovanni, Paul DiGiovanni Jr., Michelle LeBeau, Renee LeBeau, Nadine LeBeau, Rebecca Jordan, Matthew Jordan and Robert LeBeau and his great grandson Kobe Tavares, along with many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Family members will attend a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at the First Parish Church Universal Unitarian in Duxbury, on September 26th at 1:30. Following the Memorial Service, there will be a procession past Robert’s home in Hanover at 3:00 and then the family will meet at the Hanover Cemetery for a graveside service at 3:15.
