Laura Louise (Hammond) Haas of Hanson passed away Saturday June 29, 2019. Born in Hanson she was the devoted daughter of the late Earle and Louise (Sayce) Hammond, and was the beloved wife of the late Julius "Red" Haas who predeceased her in 1989. She was the loving mother of her sons Gerard and his wife Eileen of Whitman and David and his wife Holly of Myrtle Beach, SC. Sister of William of Kingston and sister-in-law Dottie Hammond of Halifax. Also survived by 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. She was the grandmother of the late Keith Haas of Maryland, formerly of Walpole.
Laura was a graduate of Whitman High School and Chandler Secretarial School in Boston. She was employed as a secretary of the Massachusetts Bankers Assn, Boston for six years, and secretary to Superintendent of the Whitman-Hanson Regional High School for 40 years, retiring in 2005. Laura enjoyed gardening, reading, knitting, crocheting, and her loving and devoted family. In earlier years she traveled to Scotland, Hawaii, Monte Carlo, Bermuda, and South Carolina to attend the graduation of her grandson, Danny who joined the U.S. Marines.
Visiting hours will be held in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner of Rte. 58) Hanson on Tuesday July 2nd 4-7 PM. Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Wednesday July 3rd at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend, Burial will follow in Fern Hill Cemetery, Hanson.
