Frank V. Demont

Frank V. DeMont of Hanson passed away peacefully on Thursday September 15, 2016 at the age of 73. He was the beloved husband of Margaret J. (O'Connor) DeMont. Son of the late Frank M. and Leah C. (Cookson) DeMont.  Loving father of Frank A .and his wife Maria of Hanson, Margaret Mary Stezelecki of Dover, NH, Katherine L. Priolo and her husband George of Whitman, and David E. DeMont and Heather of Whitman. Also survived by 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. 

Born in Brockton Frank lived in Hanson all of his life and attended Hanson and Silver Lake Schools. He was a ham radio operator during the war getting messages back and forth over seas for families. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter in Hanson for 13 years and helped start the volunteer ambulance service in Hanson. He helped raise the funds to purchase the first town owned ambulance. Frank worked for the Hanson Highway Dept. as a full and part time employee. He did Municipal surplus for many years and acquired buildings, trucks, and heavy equipment  for the town of Hanson. He was the town's volunteer dog officer for many years and became the official dog officer. He built the dog pound modeled after the number one dog pound in Middleboro. He was a member of the Winchester Rifle Corp, an I.T. Manager, Genealogist, and Fisherman. He worked for the Plymouth County Sherriff's Dept. and was part of a team that worked on the Afis System in Plymouth County to connect to a national data base system. Frank was a Deputy Chief of Civil Defence and had his own oil burner business.

Visiting hours will be held in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson on Monday 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  Services will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday at 10 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be in Colebrook Cemetery, Whitman.
