Diana Jean Fahey-Rice of Hanson passed in peace Friday, September 7, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, at the age of 70. Preceded in death by her beloved parents Louise and William Fahey and her loving brothers Kevin, William and Robert Fahey.
Survived by her devoted husband Richard Rice and their children, Kelly Kempton, Brian Smith, Shane Colson, Erin Colson, Gary Rice, Elizabeth Rice and the late Derek Rice, along with their spouses Michelle Smith, Corinne Rice and Justine Rice-Coogan. An amazing grandmother to Samantha Kempton and her daughter Emi Fay, Willow Kempton, Taylor and Michael Smith, Olivia and Avery Rzucidlo, Thomas Baragwanath and his son Tommy, Nicole and Samantha Rice, Haley Rice and Thomas, Tristin and Victoria.
Her adventures were death defying and numerous from bungee jumping to sky diving and drag racing. She was always ready to try something or go somewhere new, but what was truly incredible was the impact she made on the lives of people who didn’t even know her. She founded the State Police Stress Program which helps prevent suicides of our law enforcement officers. She was the founder of the Whitman Middle School haunted house. She organized countless fundraisers for local people in need and took monthly donations for major charities including the Jimmy Fund, The March of Dimes and Saint Jude.
She lived her life to the fullest, never took anything for granted and always lived in the moment. She was a published writer, an artist, a jokester, a daredevil, community activist, care giver, care taker, loving wife and best friend to many. Lives were made better because she was a part of them. She will always be in our hearts.
