Betty J (Tompkins) MacVicar

Betty J.  (Tompkins) MacVicar of Hanson Passed away suddenly on Tuesday November 3, 2015 at the age of 82.  She was the beloved wife of 56 years to the late Alexander MacVicar.  Daughter of the late Raymond S. and Bernice R. (Dunn) Tompkins and  late step father Murray G. Maclauchlan. Loving mother of Barbara MacVicar of Hanson, Brenda Simpson and her husband Bill of Plymouth, Margaret A, Murray and her former husband Kevin of Halifax, Mary Jane MacVicar and her fiancé Matthew Corbett of Hanson, the late John A. MacVicar, and her late grandson Ryan MacVicar. Sister of the late Robert, Charles, and Nancy.  Also survived by 8 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was born and raised in Rockland, MA. Betty graduated nursing school from New England Baptist in 1954 and became an RN at the Brockton Hospital for over 30 years. She loved bingo with her husband and going to lunch with her retired nurse friends.  She was a member of the Easton Stars and Council of Aging in Hanson and loved going  out for breakfast with her family.  Her favorite place being Moes in Hanson.  

Visiting hours will be in the Leighton-MacKinnon Funeral Home 4 West Washington St. (Corner Rte. 58) Hanson on Monday 2-6 PM. Funeral Service's will be held in the First Baptist Church of Hanson 214 Main St., Hanson Tuesday at  10 AM.  Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
